Overview
Blitz, a fitness app, was designed to empower people to start exercising in a way that meets their schedule, level and motivations.
Problem
Finding time to exercise and finding workouts that suit your level.
Solutions
Motivate people into an exercise routine that suits their level, schedule, and interests.
ROLE
UI Designer
TOOLS
Figma, Pen & Paper
TIMELINE
6 weeks
Sketching
Since the research was already done I was able to just take the requirements from the brief and focus on concepting, designing and prototyping.
Sketching was the first step in creating a visual representation of the app. This part helps me in getting into a creative state and allows me to develop first concepts about how the app should work.
User Flow Diagram
I produced a User Flow Diagram based on the user stories from the brief. Creating a User Flow diagram aided in the development of the app's structure. My major goal was to reduce the amount of steps required for each user to perform their most important tasks within the application. In addition, the diagram gave me a good overview of the project's scope.
Moodboard
Moodboards are a fun way to try out different color schemes, fonts, and styles. I created two moodboards in order to determine the visual direction of the product. I had to keep in mind to incorporate the colour orange which was part of the requirements.
Style Guide
I created a basic style guide that includes visual components to maintain consistency and streamline the design process.

Responsive Design
I took a mobile-first approach and adapted the design to multiple screen sizes / breakpoints to provide a consistent experience across devices.

Conclusion
In this project I could focus exclusively on UI design. The research had been conducted and so I found all the necessary information in the brief. I appreciated that the brief was abstract enough to allow me to come up with my own solutions to the stated requirements. That way I was able to hone my problem-solving, concepting and design skills. I noted my visual design skills improving considerably.
Digital products are never finished and this one is no exception. I would like to complete the prototype by adding more functionality to it. Next I would perform usability testing on the prototype and iterate on it. Based on further research I could imagine adding more features like a social section, which could include leaderboards and a way for friends to encourage each other, and the ability to create your own workouts. Lastly I would like to flesh out the desktop version to offer a great experience on any platform.
Thank you!
